Oatmeal / Porridge for Breakfast

This has got to be one of the quickest, simplest, cheapest recipes out there. In fact, I wasn’t even going to include it as it is that simple. But oats are such an important grain they deserved the attention.


1/3 cup of Oatmeal (Porridge)
2/3 and a bit cups of Milk

2 or 3 chopped dried apricots


  1. Place oats in a large deep bowl.
  2. Add milk (no need to stir)
  3. Put in the microwave for 3 minutes on high.
  4. Remove, stir and serve.

If you’re used to not adding sugar to food you’ll discover oatmeal has a natural subtle sweetness. For children though, try adding some chopped dried apricots on top when serving.
